Hong Kong Polytechnic University Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics Selects Intergraph

Leading GIS educational institution to utilize technology for teaching and research  

 

Hong Kong, 25 January, 2007 – Intergraph Corporation today announced that the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (Dept. of LSGI) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU) has purchased almost 100 annual leases of Intergraph’s GeoMedia software for teaching and research projects. A tertiary education leader in the fields of land surveying and geo-information areas, the Dept. of LSGI of HK PolyU has the largest student pool of the subject areas in Hong Kong. It is the principle of the Dept of LSGI to equip its students and faculty members with the best and most comprehensive tools in land surveying and geo-informatics areas. The Department decision-makers involved in the GIS software selection process believed that Intergraph’s GeoMedia suite of applications were most applicable to the goals and requirements of their students and faculty members. Mr. Geoffrey Shea, Senior Lecturer of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University said, “Intergraph’s GeoMedia software will provide our students with hands-on training experience which is transferable to the professional world.
